ICorr Coating Inspection - Level 3
Corrosion, Cathodic Protection and Coatings
Lesson 1 - Corrosion Fundamentals
Objective
The objective of this unit is to give an overall review of the fundamentals of the chemistry of the corrosion process of iron (Fe) in aqueous environments.
The unit briefly details the reactions and the chemistry in basic and simple terms under ideal conditions.
The true details are complex and variable, dependent upon specific metals/alloys and the corrosive environments they are subjected to.
We will also review basic corrosion, localised corrosion, corrosion inhibitors and corrosion management, inspection and monitoring and finally material selection.
Lesson 2 - Forms of Corrosion
Objective
The objective of this unit is to give an overall review of the various forms of corrosion.
The unit will detail the forms of corrosion and methods of corrosion control for each type.
Corrodere would like to thank the University of Manchester (UK) for their support in this unit
Lesson 3 - Engineering Materials
Objective
The objective of this training unit is to review the various types of materials used in Engineering and Construction.
Lesson 4 - Environments
Objective:
The objective of this training unit is to review the various types of environments to which materials used in engineering and construction are exposed.
Lesson 5 - Cathodic Protection in the Marine Environment
Objective:
The objective of this unit is to give a basic understanding of corrosion and cathodic protection (CP) and how CP can be used to control corrosion, specifically in the marine industry
Lesson 6 - Cathodic Protection of Pipelines
Objective:
The objective of this unit is to give a basic understanding of corrosion and cathodic protection (CP) and how CP can be used to control corrosion, specifically in the pipeline industry
Lesson 7 - Cathodic Protection and Coatings
Objective:
The objective of this training unit is to review the effects of cathodic protection on paint coatings.
