Objective

The Standard is titled ‘measurement of dry film thickness with gauges’
The standard is widely used in coating specifications.
This unit is not a comprehensive review of the standard so the user should ensure that a copy of the standard is available and understood before use.
Lesson 7 - ASTM Miscellaneous Standards
Objective
The objective of this training unit is to give a brief introduction to the various ASTM Standards used in the protective coatings industry.
The list is not exhaustive as there are other coating Standards within the ASTM range.
The Standards are generally specified within the painting specification for specific contracts.
The full standards can be purchased via the internet.
Lesson 8 - NORSOK M-501
Objective
The objective to this training unit is to give an overview of the NORSOK Standard M-501 entitled, Surface preparation and protective coating, which gives the requirements for the selection of coating materials, surface preparation, application procedures and inspection for protective coatings to be applied during the construction and installation of offshore installations and associated facilities.
