Coating Inspection and Inspection Equipment
Lesson Complete:
Lesson Viewed:
Lesson 1 - Inspection and Testing Equipment
Objective
The objective of this unit is to gain an insight into the inspection and testing equipment used in the protective coatings industry.
- There are various manufacturers of inspection and testing equipment across the globe.
- There are also various national and international standards available for the calibration, use and recording of the instruments.
Lesson 2 - Duties of a Painting (Coating) Inspector
Objective
To understand the role of the painting inspector (inspector) relative to the other parties involved and to explain the duties involved during the course of the project.
Lesson 3 - Low Voltage Holiday Detector
Objective
The objective of this training unit is to give a thorough understanding of the low voltage holiday detector.
The holiday detector may also be referred to as a pinhole detector or sponge detector.
The principal is the same for all types.
Lesson 4 - High Voltage Holiday Detector
Objective
The objective of this training unit is to give a thorough understanding of the high voltage holiday detector.
The high voltage holiday detector is also known as a spark detector.
Lesson 5 - Practical Arithmetic
Objective
The objective of this training unit is to give an understanding of arithmetic used throughout the coating industry.
The unit will review paint application (theoretical and practical) along with typical structure calculations allowing the user to estimate the paint quantities required for specific areas and locations.
Lesson 6 - Pre-Job Conference
Objective
The objective of this unit is to give an understanding of the requirement and importance to have a pre-job conference before undertaking a surface preparation and coating application contract.
Lesson 7 - Navigating Coating Specifications
Objective
The objective of this training unit is to understand the purpose and function of a coating specification, the various methods in which coatings are specified for use, the basic components of a coating specification and locate the inspection check points in a coating specification.
Lesson 8 - Inspection Plans
Objective
The objective of this unit is to review the requirement for inspection plans used on protective coatings application contracts.
The inspection plans also termed, the inspection and test plan, are commonly used for pre-planning the inspection and check points during surface treatments.
The inspection plans also help streamline the understanding of inspection activities detailed in some coating specifications.
Lesson 9 - The Roles of QA and QC Inspector
Objective
The objective of this unit is to give an overview of the roles of QA and QC specifically relating to personnel on a coatings project.
Lesson 10 - Inspection Documentation
Objective
The objective of this training unit is to give a full review of the requirements for the coating inspector to complete inspection documentation.
This unit is complemented by the inspection documentation video found in the tool section of Corrodere.
Lesson 11 - Coating Inspectors Safety
Objective
The objective of this training unit is to give an overview of Health and Safety specific for the Coating Inspector and associated coatings personnel who work in the protective coatings industry.
The student will already be familiar with the phrases and headings used as these have been detailed in previous Health and Safety units.
A review of previous Health and Safety units may be necessary at this stage.
Lesson 12 - Advanced Nondestructive Tests
Objective
The objective of this training unit is to review the advanced non-destructive test equipment used in the field and laboratory.
Lesson 13 - Advanced Destructive Tests
Objective
The objective of this training unit is to review the destructive test equipment and tests used in the field and laboratory.
