Objective
The objective to this training unit is to examine hot-dip galvanizing and why it is used in such large volumes globally.
Lesson 2 - Basic Corrosion
Objective
The objective of this training unit is to gain a basic understanding of the corrosion process relating to steel structures. Also to gain an appreciation of how corrosion can be controlled by the use of abrasive blast cleaning and coating application. Some basic chemistry will be used.
- In every form of life where steel is used, you will generally see evidence of corrosion, which is more evident when little maintenance is conducted.
Lesson 3 - Hot Dip Galvanizing Process

The objective to this training unit is to review the steps in the hot dip galvanizing process.
Lesson 4 - Pre-preparation Inspection
Objective
The objective to this to review pre-preparation inspection of hot-dip galvanizing.
Lesson 5 - Appearance and Testing
Objective
The objective to this training unit is to review the appearance of hot-dip galvanizing and the common concerns with regards to protection and aesthetics. We will also review review the tests that can be undertaken on finished articles.
Lesson 6 - Paint Application and Coating
Objective
The objective to this is to review painting or coating over hot-dip galvanized surfaces. The term is often referred to as a duplex paint system.
Lesson 7 - Hot Dip Galvanizing Standards
Objective:
The objective of this training unit is to give a brief overview of the various standards used on hot-dip galvanizing. Although there are over 100 standards used for hot-dip galvanizing and other zinc coatings used internationally, we will review the more prominent standards used.

The objective of this training unit is to give a review of the TPC 9 Publication titled “Users Guide to Hot-Dip Galvanizing for Corrosion Protection in Atmospheric Service”
